Background
The Neuromuscular Disease Group was registered with the Cochrane Collaboration in March 1998 with its editorial base in King’s College London. In September 2008 the editorial base moved to the MRC Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases in the Institute of Neurology, University College London. It aims to provide systematic reviews of all interventions for all neuromuscular diseases, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis/motor neuron disease, peripheral nerve disorders, myasthenia gravis and neuromuscular function disorders, and muscle diseases. Since 2008 the Group has begun to prepare systematic reviews of diagnostic test accuracy.
Details of completed and planned reviews can be found here. A complete list of topics under consideration for reviews is available here.
The Group's editorial base is funded by a grant from the United Kingdom Department of Health NIHR Cochrane Review Group Infrastructure Award with additional support from the MRC Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases, MND Association (UK) and the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
The Group membership has risen to over 300 researchers, healthcare professionals and consumers from around the world. Anyone interested in contributing to the work of the Group is invited to contact the Managing Editor at cochranenmd@ion.ucl.ac.uk.
